Meet Our Teachers

Kate Young (she/her)

As a teacher, my goal is to share the beauty, simplicity, and wonder of nature to learning as I had experienced as a child in a holistic, child centered way. I focus on creating a rhythm & relationship that aligns with the Earth, the children’s own ancestry, and the traditions of the land on which we walk.

I am passionate about herbalism, land restoration, fiber arts, wild foods, native plants, nourishing community, child development and protecting play in its most open form. I strive to bring all of this into our days and am always looking to learn, grow & be inspired.

Ashley Groome-Sowards (she/her)

Growing up in the PNW has given me a deep, rooted appreciation for native flora and fauna, local food, and all that nature has to offer. My interests include teaching, fiber arts, reading, gardening, and playing games with my family. My background lies in Early Childhood Education and Montessori from pregnancy and beyond. As the world grows, I seek more knowledge along the way. I believe in teaching the whole child, and creating space for natural development to occur. I dream of healing the Earth one seed at a time. I am happy to learn and grow together with the Meadow Creek Community.

We Acknowledge This Land

Meadow Creek Community Farm acknowledges the land we now steward is the ancestral homeland of Coast Salish and Chinookan peoples including the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Grand Ronde, Cowlitz and more. We acknowledge their stewardship of the land and waters, and seek to align ourselves with their living example and values for all future generations.
